Yale locks first appeared in 1840 when Linus Yale Senior, a descendant of a Welsh family which had emigrated to America, opened his Yale Lock Shop in Newport, New York. Yale specialised in handmade bank locks. In time, Linus Yale Junior went on to design the bank locks that are still used across the USA. However, Linus Yale Juniors most important invention was the Yale cylinder lock. Over a century later, your own front door probably has a modern version of the Yale cylinder lock on it. Our Yale brand store includes the wider range of home security products the company has developed to suit how home and business needs have changed, including wirefree intruder detection kits and other safety and security essentials.
