Curtains
Header Types
| Pleated | Suitable for use with both curtain poles and tracks, close pleats are created by pulling the cords on the header tape. |

| Ring Top | Suitable for use with curtain poles only, consisting of a row of metal eyelets across the top of the curtain. |
| Tab Top | Suitable for use with curtain poles only, consisting of tabs of fabric stitched to the top of the curtain. |
| Hidden Tab Top | Suitable for use with curtain poles only, fabric tabs are stitched to the back of the curtain creating a pleated effect which covers the pole. |
Fabric Terms And Definitions
- Appliqué
- Pattern or design made by cutting out a separate fabric design or motif and stitching it on to the face of another fabric.
- Basket Weave
- A simple weave of 2 or more ends and picks woven side by side as one; the finished effect resembling a basket effect.
- Canvas
- Medium to heavyweight closely woven fabric in a plain or twill weave. Usually made from 100% cotton, although polyester/cotton blends are available.
- Chenille
- A fabric which has a chenille yarn in the weft. A chenille yarn has a cut pile which gives it a soft texture.
- Dobby
- A type of weaving method which produces fabric with small repeating designs.
- Embroidery
- A decorative design or pattern applied to a fabric by means of stitching.
- Faux Suede
- Fabric woven to resemble suede leather. The suede effect is achieved by sanding/brushing the surface of the fabric.
- Ends
- The threads in the length (warp) of a fabric.
- Flock
- Decorative detail applied to the surface of a fabric in a particular pattern, using adhesive. Finely chopped fibres are applied are applied to the fabric and stick to the adhesive print, forming the design.
- Jacquard
- Decorative woven fabric produced by means of a jacquard mechanism attached to the loom, enabling detailed/intricate, large scale designs to be produced. Damasks, tapestries and brocades are types of jacquard fabrics.
- Picks
- The threads in the width (weft) of a fabric.
- Design produced by means of coloured pigments applied to the surface of the fabric.
- Taffeta
- A finely woven plain weave fabric with a smooth, crisp handle and a lustrous appearance.
- Satin Weave
- A traditional fabric with a smooth, lustrous finish, consisting of float yarns on the face of the fabric.
- Velvet
- A woven fabric with a short, dense, cut pile which gives a luxurious appearance and soft handle.
- Voile
- A fine, sheer woven fabric with a crisp feel.

Accessories
Selected ranges are available with additional accessories including various style of valance (scarf, straight and swag effect), tiebacks, cushion covers, swags and throws to co-ordinate with your curtains.
When ordering swags, tails and valances not attached to curtains, you will need another track in front of your existing curtain track.
Measuring the Length
Measure the drop from the edge of the curtain track or pole to the desired length. If using curtain rings on a pole, measure from the botom of the ring.
| Sill Curtains | For sill curtains measure 1.25cm (0.5in) above the sill. If curtains are to hang below the sill, measure 15cm (6in) below it and allow 2.5cm (1in) space above the radiators to prevent heat loss behind curtains. |

| Floor Length Curtains | For floor length curtains measure 1.5cm from the floor. |
| Tab Top | For tab top curtains, measure from the top edge of the pole. If existing curtains are not tab tops, raise pole 15cm (6in) above window to prevent light spill between pole and curtains. |
| Ring Top Curtains | For ring tops, measure from the top of the pole and add 4cm - the fabric will then sit above the pole. |
Measuring the Width
As our curtains already allow for a full gather, all you need to do is measure the total width of curtain track or pole (excluding decorative finials). This should be positioned 15cm (6in) above the window - ideally extended 15 - 20cm (6 - 8in) on either side. Check your measurement falls within our guide.
Accessories
When ordering swags, tails and valances not attached to curtains, you will need another track in front of your existing curtain track.
Blinds
Types of Blind
All blinds are supplied with fixtures and fittings plus instructions for easy hanging. Certain styles can be cut to size as indicated. Blinds are non-returnable once cut to fit or assembled.
| Roller | Operated by means of beaded side controls. Available with a variety of bottom edge treatments (straight, scalloped, castellated and eyelet). Roller blinds are available as light filtering (helps cut out damaging or uncomfortable direct sunlight) or total blackout (thermal backed, no outside light filters through, saves energy. Ideal for kids' rooms). |

| Roman | Side operated cording mechanism, forming soft pleats when the blind is raised. |
| Venetian | Consisting of horizontal slats which can be tilted, raised or lowered to let in as much or as little light as you require. Available in a variety of substrates (aluminium, wood and PVC) and colours. Made to measure wooden Venetian blinds are also available. |
| Vertical | Consisting of vertical slats which can be tilted or drawn using a simple side corded mechanism. Slats can be tilted to let in as much or a little light as you require. |
Measuring Guide (Roller, Roman and Venetian Blinds)
Measuring for a blind to hang inside the window recess:
The recess must have a minimum depth of 10cm (4in).
Measure the drop from the top of the window to the sill at 3 equally spaced places. Note down the shortest measurement.
Measure the width of the recess from wall to wall in 3 places and again note down the shortest measurement.
Measuring for a blind to hang outside the window recess:
Measure the exact drop from where you want the blind to hang from to where you want the blind to finish. Note down the measurement.
Measure the exact width of where you want your blind to cover and note down the measurement.
Measuring Guide (Vertical Blinds)
Our vertical blinds are easy to fit and come in a choice of headrail widths.
Firstly decide whether you want the blind to hang inside or outside the window recess. For inside the recess measure the width where the track is to be fitted and deduct 1cm. For outside the recess add approximately 10cm each side of your recess measurement.

Available in a variety of diameters, colours and styles.
