Philippe Gatta doesn’t do slow. He’s an accomplished mountaineer and long distance runner who isn’t afraid of a challenge, somebody who really does live for adventure.
Philippe has completed the seven summits challenge (Mt. Everest, Vinson, Carstensz, McKinley, Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro and Elbrus), ran the Marathon des Sables (140 miles) and climbed over 200 peaks in the Alps, to name just a few of his adventures.
But what makes Philippe’s achievements all the more remarkable is that he works full time as an IT Manager. All his training for events and expeditions is done in his spare time, says Philippe:
“In terms of training; I usually do 9 training sessions a week for a total of 18-20 hours. Monday to Friday I run 4 times in 45 minute intervals and I climb indoor (bouldering or fingerboard) 3 times a week. On Saturdays I usually rock climb all day and Sunday I trail run in the Alps 20-40 km with 2000-3000m of ascent."
Based in Nice, France, Philippe is married to Anna Gatta, who shares a similar spirit for adventure.

Born in Sweden, Anna moved to France after deciding she would like to live in Provence and has never looked back.
Married to Philippe (see above) she shares his passion for adventure and the pair spend weekends, and any other spare time, trail running or climbing for enjoyment and in preparation for their next adventure.
Anna has climbed extensively, particularly in France, as well as running/hiking the Annapurna circuit (280km in 13 days) and accompanying her husband to base camp during his recentKanchenjunga expedition.
Not only is Anna an experienced athlete but she also runs a successful graphic design company, proving that you can fit adventure in to almost any lifestyle.

Top class boulderer Leah Crane spent seven years competing on the UK bouldering scene before approaching Berghaus with a proposal for her own European adventure in 2010. Leah wanted to travel round Europe in a converted Royal Mail van visiting classic and new climbing spots in 10 countries, and we were so inspired we agreed to help fund the trip to help take her climbing to the next level.
That was in 2010 and we’re proud that she’s taken part in our latest advert, showing her skills as one of the UK’s best climbers.

If you think of adventure then you need to think of Leo Houlding. Introduced to climbing at the age of 10 Leo hasn’t stopped seeking out new adventures in the twenty years since.
His adventures have taken him to some of the most incredible places on the planet including Mount Asgard on Baffin Island, Mount Huashan in China and El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, as well as to the top of Everest.
Leo’s quest for adventure has led to him starring on the small screen; hosting his own show ‘Take me to the Edge’, and beating Jeremy Clarkson up the Verdon Gorge for Top Gear, and on the big screen in The Asgard Project and The Wildest Dream, as well as in Berghaus TV adverts.
We’re sure you’ll agree Leo is a true adventurer, but don’t just take our word for it – Leo was named one of the top 10 adventurers by The Telegraph and was called ‘an ambassador for the younger generation of climbers’ by Sir Chris Bonington.
